How to Get OData URLs with Company Names that Contain Slashes
If you want to consume Dynamics NAV data with OData in Microsoft Excel and have a company name that contains a forward slash (i.e., Cronus A/G or Cronus Denmark A/S), you may have an error as a result. By including the company name in the query string instead of the OData path, you can work around this issue. This workaround applies to other applications in addition to Excel.
Azure Data Studio Now Available
Suresh shares that “Azure Data Studio is a lightweight cross-platform database tool, previously called SQL Operations Studio. The interface is similar to VS Code.”
Using Native Dynamics NAV SMTP to Send Emails
Tom reaches out to the team. “I have a weird problem for a client. They want to use native NAV SMTP mail to send out emails, and everything works fine in their test environment. However, if I use the same credentials and settings in their production environment, I get an error stating ‘The mail system returned the following error: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [CY1PR07CA0027.namprd07.prod.outlook.com]’.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?”
Suresh suggests, “It could be related to the Email Address. Make sure the sender address is not blank. Check the User Setup.”
Michael adds, “Tom, there may be an exception granted in Exchange to allow anonymous e-mails from the TEST machine but not from the PROD machine. The exception is per machine / IP address.”
Tom replies to Suresh, “It’s definitely not a blank email address, as I made a customization to fix that. But that is a good idea.”
Tom: “Michael: We’re using Office 365 instead of Exchange; is there something I might need to do on the Office 365 side? I believe all the NSTs are on the same machine.”
Michael: “The limitation I mentioned is something that’s had to be addressed for on-prem installations of Exchange. I’m less familiar with Office365. Sara Keck may be able to answer your question.”
