Highlights of the D365BC Autumn 2019 Release
Kyle shares this article from MSDynamicsWorld: “Five Highlights of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Autumn 2019 Release, noting that this release will contain 42 changes in total. The base application will be delivered as AL applications – C/SIDE development and the Windows client will cease to exist in the newer versions. Multiple production environments will now be available – a big deal to multi-national companies as they will now be able to localize per company versus having to use the same code base for all companies. Discontinuation of the desktop client in favor of the modern client is one area where we may be going back in functionality; however, improvements are being made with every new release. Speed and agility are next on the list, and it seems that Microsoft is keeping performance in mind with everything they do.”
Matt T calls out: “This is the most important one in my opinion: ‘Another bottleneck are database locks of the No. Series – Table. The next release will offer a solution to this with a Lock-free number series. Yes! This is the first step in a way to avoid table locks with tables that use Entry No. as a primary key.’ Do you agree? Stop Using the Old Business Central Online URLs
Make sure you tell your D365BC SaaS customers. From the Dynamics 365 blog:
Last year, we announced a single URL that will get you to your Business Central online. From that date a year ago, the shorter, simpler URL to access all your business data has always been https://businesscentral.dynamics.com, and we have been redirecting you silently even if you would happen to use the old ones (*.financials). Right now (from September 1st, 2019), we will be switching off any redirection from the previous, old addresses (*.financials) to the single Business Central domain. If you are still using any old bookmarks or links – please update them and switch fully to https://businesscentral.dynamics.com address only! This change only applies to online version of Business Central via the browser or any API calls (does not apply to on-premises versions).
This is important, but if you’re already using the current https://businesscentral.dynamics.com address as we suggested a year ago – you’re all set and don’t need to worry.
