What is Data Visualization?
Data visualization are tools that present data in a graphical format helping users visualize relationships and patterns. This is especially important when vast amounts of data exist and relationships would be difficult to detect otherwise. Data visualization tools use dashboards which are multilayered data management systems that use data mining and business intelligence to detect patterns and present them in meaningful ways. These dashboards help businesses monitor business activity, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs). For example, the finance department can track revenue, expenses, and growth. The dashboards can even be applied to human resources to track employee satisfaction and pay. The uses of data visualization are endless.
Benefits of Data Visualization
There are three main benefits to dashboards and data visualization in general. Communication is a key benefit. Communicating through visual representation allows users to comprehend patterns and relationships easily. Another benefit includes the ability to monitor KPIs in real time and react to the data presented. Lastly, the ability to draw insights and patterns that may have not been readily obvious to the naked eye is another important benefit of data visualization.
What is Power BI?
With Microsoft’s new “Project Madeira” comes Power BI. Power BI is a data visualization tool that can help you understand the information processed by your ERP system. Power BI will analyze data from any major system but it fits with Madeira since both Power BI and Madeira are cloud-based solutions. Both tools can be used anytime and anywhere with phones, desktop, or web applications.
