ArcherPoint Dynamics NAV / Business Central Developer Digest - Vol 325

ArcherPoint’s Developer Digest blog is posted weekly to benefit the Microsoft Dynamics developer community. Here are the top 10 developer digests from 2020.

The Dynamics NAV and Business Central community, including the ArcherPoint technical staff, is made up of developers, project managers, and consultants who are constantly communicating, with the common goal of  sharing helpful information with one another to help customers be more successful.

As they run into issues and questions, find the answers, and make new discoveries, they post them on blogs, forums, social media...so everyone can benefit. We in Marketing watch these interactions and never cease to be amazed by the creativity, dedication, and brainpower we’re so fortunate to have in this community—so we thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this great information with everyone who might not have the time to check out the multitude of resources out there? So, the ArcherPoint Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer Digest was born. Each week, we present a collection of thoughts and findings from NAV/BC experts and devotees around the world. We hope these insights will benefit you, too.

The Top 10 List for 2020’s Most Read Developer Digests

It’s always fun to take a look back at the end of the year to see what content resonated the most with our readers. I don’t know that looking back at anything in 2020 could be considered “fun”, but we’re done with it now, thank goodness!

I did find it interesting to see which Developer Digest versions were most read in 2020 and thought you might, too:

  • Volume 282 (Feb 2020) – Page repeaters and actions; BC SaaS barcodes; Docker and Win 10; refreshing report datasets
  • Volume 128 (Feb 2017) – Troubleshooting errors in NAV 2017; NAV 2015 videos; Microsoft KB site updates
  • Volume 275 (Jan 2020) – Making the BC base app smaller; shortcuts for Visual Studio; obsolete items; procedure overloads
  • Volume 272 (Dec 2019) – Triggers in D365BC; record locks in NAV 2018; using Word as default layout in AL report writing
  • Volume 280 (Feb 2020) – What’s new in D365 Business Central
  • Volume 102 (July 2016) – Preventing your eyes from aching after staring at your PC all day
  • Volume 293 (May 2020) – Business Central version 16: Printing and Enums
  • Volume 277 (Jan 2020) – AppSource cop; RDLC errors in Business Central
  • Volume 208 (Sep 2018) – Looking for JSON in Dynamics NAV; make a REST call to Bing Maps API; progress bars; XML port generator
  • Volume 70 (Oct 2015) – Handling a C/AL error (record lock); reducing time required to perform NAV upgrades; overwriting the NAV 2015 admin tool when installing NAV 2016

What does this tell us? It says we’re all still working on old versions of Dynamics NAV (even Navision, I dare say) but are learning and keeping up with the rapid changes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central so we can take our customers successfully into the future. Keep up the good work, and here’s to a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2021!
