SOAP or REST?

Bill polls the tribe: “REST (query/page OData and API) vs. SOAP: The customer is on NAV 2018. They want direction on where to start building out an integration that has the ability to do SOAP or REST. The connector has some issues communicating with the query/page OData exposed now (which probably gives me my answer), but to me, it seems to be a choice between an older, more established SOAP and a newer ‘the future’ OData/REST/API. I don't have any first-hand experience of how well the API or page/query OData services work. Which way would you steer a customer?  SOAP or REST(query/page/api)?”

Suresh responds: “I prefer SOAP at this point because of the flexibility and ability to create our own services; besides, API is still beta, and we don't have lot of endpoints available.”

Bill follows: “Do you have any experience defining your own API pages?”

Suresh replies: “No experience, but I believe the only difference is the PageType.”

Business Central on Docker for Newbies
