Microsoft Dynamics Partner ArcherPoint Joins with Mouse to Empower Students and Educators in Underserved Communities to “Learn, Lead, and Create” with Technology
ATLANTA, GA — April 9, 2019 — ArcherPoint Inc., a Microsoft Dynamics ERP Gold Partner and full-service provider for Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central, has joined with Mouse to empower students to learn, lead, and create with technology to solve real problems and make meaningful change in our schools, communities, and their world.
The partnership will serve to connect ArcherPoint’s employees and clients—professionals from varying technical and business backgrounds—with local organizations and initiatives that would benefit from these resources.
“One of the biggest issues we are facing in education today is that under-resourced communities don't have access to either STEM curricula or to educators who can teach the curricula,” said Julia Barraford-Temel, Mouse Director of Network Success. “We, along with partners like ArcherPoint, are able to support them by providing the curricula and the professional development they need to feel confident in teaching that curricula and supporting their students.”
Mouse is a national youth development nonprofit that believes in technology as a force for good, working to help youth and educators engage with computer science and creative technology for problem solving and positive change. Mouse is also committed to fostering greater diversity and humanity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), an initiative promoted by the U.S. Department of Education. Mouse designs computer science and STEM curriculum on its online learning platform, Mouse Create (funded by the National Science Foundation), provides professional development to K-12 educators, and engages students through the Design League and maker events.
ArcherPoint as an organization had been looking for some way to contribute to and have an impact on the various local communities in which its distributed workforce and clients live. The decision to go with Mouse was based on 4 criteria—correlation with what ArcherPoint’s employees can offer, national or international representation, a focus on under-resourced communities/impacting the cycle of poverty, and the opportunity for local involvement.
“We consider it our responsibility and privilege to help students and educators any way we can; it benefits them and the technology community because we are helping to build our future workforce,” said Heather Wang, ArcherPoint Marketing Strategist. “We partnered with Mouse because they share these values and because they can bring together the people, programs and platforms to realize that goal.”
As an employee-owned company, ArcherPoint’s employee-owners take ownership in this initiative as well. They are allotted up to 8 hours per month of working hours dedicated to volunteering with Mouse—which adds up to 800 hours per month. ArcherPoint also holds educational Lunch & Learns, and is sponsoring memberships to Mouse Create.
“The fact that ArcherPoint has a distributed workforce and is not limited in geography means we can facilitate, help, and support them in their efforts to give back to their own particular communities,” continued Julia. “And identifying the point of need within their communities will empower those employees to go where they are needed the most, which drives more value to everyone.”
“The partnership with Mouse couldn't be better,” said Heather. “They have the expertise in getting these initiatives going, and we have the expertise in our own individual computer science areas. I'm excited to see this grow.”
